DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
How might we encourage people with addiction to gambling to successfully book consultations with a specialized provider when too many provider options to choose from leads to user drop-offs.
TYPES OF USERS
For this project, I was tasked with focusing on the patient experience.
DEFINE
USER INTERVIEW GOALS
5 user interviews + 35 survey responses from people with previous experience in search for a mental health provider
I want to understand users' motivations and goals when they search for a provider.
I want to understand the pain points of users when choosing a provider.
I want to understand their experience of attending sessions.
I want to understand how to remove any obstacles in their experience during this entire process.
IDENTIFIED THEMES
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
I looked at competitors who are providing patients with a directory of providers. There were some design features that were working well for most competitors that I saw an opportunity to implement into Curb’s design.
Most competitors had an extensive filtering option in their provider directories
Most competitors include insurance or out-of-network information
Most competitors had some form of assisting users in narrowing down their provider search
Experience Opportunities
Search for providers by map view
A consistent consultation booking experience
A feature that allows users to compare between interested providers
IDEATE
INITIAL SOLUTIONS (3 MAIN FLOWS)
Referring back to the initial problem statement, I came up with 3 main flows to address the themes provided by the user research. We want to enable users to be able to successfully book consultations by making the process less overwhelming through ‘Questionnaire and Search’, ‘Provider Comparison’, and ‘Account Dashboard’ flows.
VALIDATE
USABILITY TESTING + DESIGN ITERATIONS
The design went through many iterations based on usability testing and feedback.
UI + STYLE GUIDE
Reflections
Take a look at how user experience can make the questionnaire more engaging
Develop ways to improve the experience once a therapist is chosen
Consider including an account dashboard tour for first-time users
